From a University Hostel to Africa’s No. 1 Halal Savings Platform
Our Journey
HalalVest is the first Hostel-Started non-interest digital “Savings platform" in the world.
Our journey began in 2021 at the hostel of the Prestigious Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. We first started as “bilalyglobalsavers,” a simple savings-only platform created to help ourselves—a group of friends—save up from our monthly Student allowance.
As scholarship students, we were blessed with monthly allowances from the Saudi Government—may Allah reward them. Yet, like many peers, I found it difficult to save due to constant financial demands. To manage this, I began sending part of my allowance to a trusted friend for safekeeping until the holidays. Realizing that others faced the same struggle, we came together in the university hostel and founded what is now HalalVest.
Today, we have grown from that hostel room into a trusted platform spanning the UK, Saudi Arabia, and Nigeria. Alhamdulillāh, our members have collectively saved over ₦500 million to date. This is only the beginning.
